Orchid

Orchids are celebrated for their highly specialized, symmetrical blooms. Most species feature three sepals and three petals, with one petal evolving into a unique, often colorful 'lip' (labellum) to attract pollinators. Their thick, waxy leaves and unique aerial roots allow many varieties—known as epiphytes—to grow on trees or rocks rather than in soil. From the popular Phalaenopsis to the fragrant Cattleya, orchids are a masterpiece of evolutionary design.
